Oh what texture Jim!!!! Side lit to you. The "face" really shows the elements that made this monument a natural wonder!
Your encompassing of objects to solidify the foreground give the viewer a real sense of the scale, depth of the "face".

Superb photography!

Lovely.

Brings back memories. Climbed Halfdome couple decades back, then hiked out via (sorta) Clouds Rest.

Thanks for all the comments guys. One of the most inspirational photos for me back in my youth, both for climbing and photography, is "Monolith, The Face of Half Dome" by Ansel Adams.

It was part of the inspiration for my first "big wall" climb of the NW face back in 1974. Three days with little sleep, water, or food (poor planning) made for one of the tougher climbs of my life. El Cap a couple years later was fun because we trained hard, had more experience, and planned well.

I’m going to add… As weird as this sounds, there is almost a feminine sensuality to that first image. It’s not quite abstract and not quite literal, and that makes it a very unique capture. I would like to arrange to buy a print — please pm me if we arrange that!

I believe even Ansel would be awed by these images (even the last one, which is his own)! 😉 Extraordinary work, Jim.
