p.1 #1 · Battle of the Viewfinders: Leica SL3 (or 2) vs. Sony A1 II. Which one is better?
The viewfinder on the Sony A1 II is technically the best you can buy right now. However, I keep reading that the viewfinder on the Leica SL3 is more organic and, despite its technical inferiority, subjectively better.
Two or three years ago, I had a look at the SL2 viewfinder and was really VERY impressed. Without knowing the technical specifications, I immediately noticed that it somehow looked like the real thing.
Has anyone done a direct comparison between the Sony A1 II and the Leica SL3 (or SL2(-S) => probably identical?) or is anyone comfortable enough to offer an assessment?
I'm planning on buying a new camera soon. I'm also considering a Leica (the great viewfinder also plays a significant role). I don't film, I only take photos (should that be a factor).
I'd be really interested to see how the Sony compares to the Leica in this regard. Any experiences? Any opinions? Or still too early to call?
p.1 #2 · Battle of the Viewfinders: Leica SL3 (or 2) vs. Sony A1 II. Which one is better?
I own an a1 (same EVF as the II) and my guy owns the SL3. For manual focusing, I'd rather have the a1. For continuous shooting, where both EVFs drop resolution but the SL3 can still show some blackout, I'd rather have the a1.
Rolf, on the other hand, thinks the SL3's color is more natural and indicative of what his DNGs will look like and overall likes his camera more than mine, so he'll tell you that EVF is better in use, regardless of specifications.
