Crested caracara nest in souther Arizona. Popular among photographers and I've avoided it for years because of the crowds it attracts. Now that the kids have fledged I am going through some of the photos from a few trips out there. Super cool falcons that eat just about anything that they can hunt, or scavenge. Z9 with 800 6.3.
This is such a great series of images...
The photos are so diverse and show the habitat in a way that I never have seen. Most caracara shots that are shared come from one of a few photography ranches... this natural selection of images tells a story about a birds species that we rarely see.

Beautiful series, Jeffry! I love the variety and sadly you just don't see that many Caracara images -- they are beautiful birds.
The silhouette shot is awesome -- very unique!
Wow! These are really excellent images Jeffry Apparently they are set up to be in such a 'prickly' environment. Can't imagine much about this nest that is comfortable
