Hi all, I'm trying to use the long exposure setting on my A7RV but cannot get to bulb mode. The camera is in single shot drive mode, and set to mechanical shutter. I can't get past 30". Camera is set to shutter priority. (I also tried Manual mode but in M I can only adjust the apeture, the exposure comp and shutter speed don't change at all). What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Len
If you're in any automatic priority mode (aperture, shutter, etc.), you can't set it to bulb. You need to be in manual mode. I don't understand why the camera won't let you change the shutter speed if you're in manual.
Thanks, I didn't realize bulb won't work in other than manual. Now the problem is how to unstick manual. I'm stumped.
I tried removing the battery and restarting, but that didn't work.

What does this mean? You switch to M on the top dial.
It means that when the camera is set to manual I cannot adjust the shutter speed, only the apeture. Because I cannot change the shutter speed, I cannot get to bulb mode.
Yes but the dial is (can be) set up separately for M vs other modes. For eg I just set mine up (to test) to ISO on Manual yet it still works for shutter speed in S mode.
I have the older firmware so if you updated it may be different.
Setup > Operation Customize > Custom Key/Dial Set (make sure you choose the Stills version, not Video)
Scroll down to the bottom (5th row, Dial/Wheel) and the little image will show the 4 dials highlighted. #2 is the rear left. Mine is set to Av/Tv (M) and when you scroll over to it there is a note that appears ; Rear Dial L Av/Tv (Tv in M mode) https://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/support/ilc/custom/06/en/setting.html#custom
My memory is not the greatest but it's a pretty deliberate change, so I think I would also recall if I'd changed it unless I did it by mistake while changing a button (which I have changed),
If nothing else my next step would be a camera reset.
