To clarify... On my XH2:
1) With AF+MF set to "On," my AF works normally in either AF-C or AF-S mode. Then additionally if while I am activating AF, I can over-ride whatever AF lock there was by turning the lens' focus ring.
2) In MF mode, I can focus manually using the lens focus ring AND/OR obtain a quick AF lock by pressing the rear AF button, then re-tweak manually if desired. The rear AF button in MF mode acts like AF-S. And I do NOT have to AF+MF On, it works this way regardless.
Again, your XT5 may in fact be different, IDK. ...Show more →
Hmmm. Both my X-T5 and Gfx100S are set to AF+MF On, but both only behave as #2 above. I would love to have #1. I must be missing another setting. The joy of Fuji menus.

It may well be an XH2 thing not available on the XT line -- since you know, most XT shooters love the older style UI and all-manual controls!

ok, I think I figured it out. With AF + MF On, with the shutter half pressed, then the MF over-ride works.
Thanks Jack! And the ability to seamlessly go from auto to manual or back w/o menu diving is what we like. We didn't think you PASM guys ever bothered with MF.

Ha! You know what assumptions do! Of course us PSAM guys use MF! We just like getting from all manual mode to A or S mode quickly, and without having to change 3 separate dials and one or three internal menu items! 🤣🤣🤣

Maybe if you went from full auto to full manual. I go between A and M, for the Gfx, its the PASM dial change. For the X-T, I move the SS dial to T then set shutter speed with command dial. So for me, beside which dial I change, the only other difference between the two is changing ISO up top or out front. So I no longer feel that strongly about the difference, I've just hated PASM dials for so long its hard to change. Plus the X-T5 is so damn good looking.

I used to have a 100-400 but switched to 150-600 when it was released. After years of using, I have to say I miss the 100-400 so much...
I focus on airshow and birding, so I found;
1. The 150-600 was, sometimes, too slow. I don't want to increase iso over 6400 on my xh2 so I missed many shoots
2. 500-600 is too far for my style. After analyzing my photos, I found >90% of them were around 200-400.
3. The only realy I still keep the 150-600 is that I reeeeeally like the internal zoom

I used the XF150-600 in Africa and for compressed landscapes. Just don't expect separation unlike the f/4 superteles. I also have the XF70-300 that is sharp and would say sharper than the 150-600. I have the 500 f/5.6 but hasn't gotten much use. Since it is a prime, it focuses faster.
If I ever need to use my Fringer Pro X II, it will be with my Canon lenses but I've since sold most of my superteles and zooms.

Maybe I had a poor 100-400 but never clicked with it. I would choose the 70-300 + 1.4TC. Its smaller lighter and great IQ and as a -plus it focuses down to under 24”giving a .33 magnification

From all reports the 70-300mm lens has a lot going for it. I’ve considered it as an option for travel.
