p.1 #1 · Alone with the Shadows: Venice Before Dawn
Venetian Silence, 4:00 AM
Wandering the quiet alleys of Venice long before sunrise, I found the city at its most introspective—no crowds, no noise, just shadows and the echo of footsteps.
Converted to monochrome to emphasize the mood, textures, and solitude.
p.1 #2 · Alone with the Shadows: Venice Before Dawn
The Most Serene Republic of Venice wants to be a color subject by day, for its subtle pastels. These show the more truthful, depopulated, haunted Venice.
p.1 #3 · Alone with the Shadows: Venice Before Dawn
The directional light and shadow in the first image really draws my attention into the depth of the image. In addition, as you mentioned the monochrome tones set the mood. It really pays to get shooting before sunrise.
p.1 #5 · Alone with the Shadows: Venice Before Dawn
Just exceptional photography Marcelo! You have indeed captured the beauty that lies beneath the "waking world's" views.
Your tones, the wonderful sheen to the image.....just great Marcelo!

I agree with you — Venice is such a colorful and picturesque city. But before I went, I had this idea of shooting it in black and white to bring out its mystery and a bit of a haunted vibe.

The 2nd one is really nice, the last might be better with a bit less exposure on the bright sides...?
Thank you very much for pointing that out in your comment — you're absolutely right. I think I pushed the exposure a bit too far on that one.
I'm currently reprocessing some of these shots and I'm really happy with how they're turning out.
I truly appreciate your input — it’s been very helpful.

Marcelo, Venice at early dawn hours is just amazing and you captured the mood and feel of this city in each and every image. I posted a similar set on FM a while back in color. Thanks for sharing
