p.1 #1 · Best tripod and head for my very light and small Ricoh GRiiix
I posted this in the general gear forum but since I believe there are GR users who inhabit this forum I am also posting it here.
My title says it all. I am really liking this camera and I would like to be able to set it on a tripod under some circumstances e.g. setting a 10 second timer and jumping into as group photo but I do not want to use my much bigger Feisol tripod I use for my Canon 5DIV.
Not really worried too much about the price. I have, in the past, owned a few Gitzos but a cheaper but pretty much equivalent product could also work.
Any suggestion? Needless to say, the tripod will not be holding up much weight but I need to have some height to it and it must be light.

I didn't think there was even one other person in the world who wants to put a Ricoh GR IIIx on a tripod! Well well. I'm watching this thread to see what comes up.
Currently my lightest tripod is an FLM CP26 Travel II tripod with a Leofoto MBC-20 tripod head (a real featherweight). It's an excellent tripod, and relatively light, but even it is complete overkill for a 262 gram camera.
What I want to know is if you found a good plate solution. There don't seem to be any L-plates for this little thing (not surprisingly). Any Arca-Swiss plate you screw on the bottom will block the battery cover. What it needs is a dedicated plate with a hole for the battery cover. At the moment I've resigned myself to unscrewing a small Arca-Swiss plate every time I need to change the battery (which is often as you know).

I am going to try the Fotopro X aircrosse 3. This will be an occasional use tripod and this one comes with a arca-swiss compatible ballhead. $169.Less than 2 pounds in weight and I can deal with the 59 inch height even though I am 6'2'. Would I like a bit more> Yes but let me give it a try.
30 day return window from Amazon so why not try it.
The Peak Design is more than I want to pay for an occasional use tripod.

I bought the Fotopro X-Aircross 3 carbon and am happy with it from a weight standpoint. It holds my 5D4 and 35 F2 with no problem so my GR is like a feather on it. The leg mechanism is a bit odd but it works.
