Longtime Upstrap user now in need of some replacements (too bad Upstrap closed up shop). Looking for something that can carry a (heavy) DSLR with 70-200. Also want it to have a quick release.
Options I've read about include the Peak Design Slide, DSPTCH (standard or heavy duty) and Domke Gripper straps. I once had an OpTech strap but didn't like it, so not considering one of those.
I’m also an upstrap user. Just did a search for Upstrap and came across Journey Camera. Most of the straps are out out of stock. So I called them but just got a recording (it is probably around 6pm there time right now). But I’d give then a call during wrking hours and see what is going on. https://journeycamera.com/leather-sling-straps
I have some lightweight Peak Design straps yhat are good for little cameras but not my big ones. I haven’t seen any strap from them that comes close to Upstrap.
I have used UPstraps for many years and can't imagine using anything else. My shoulders relax when carrying cameras while using them. I've tried Domke, ThinkTank, and Peak Design straps. They all slip way too much to carry two cameras comfortably on my shoulders. The Peak straps are comfortable, but they essentially have to be carried bandolier style for them to work well. ThinkTank straps come the closest to staying put on my shoulder, but they still slip too much with a heavy camera.
I've looked at Black Rapid or other harness systems, like the wonderfully crafted HoldFast Gear leather straps. I like the "idea" of them, but I really don't like the multiple attachment points just to carry the camera safely. I find them cumbersome.
Maybe we need to look at carrying on the UPstrap legacy.

I use a Black Rapid with a Z8 and 70-200mm f/2.8 and can carry it around all day without neck or shoulder fatigue. The Black Rapid classic has a quick release capability (typically don’t need it) and the safety strap is optional. At the end of the day it’s personal preference.
Domke gripper straps seem to stay on my shoulder and are flexible and breathable enough to also use as a neck strap. However, they are not easily length adjustable. I also like the Optech straps for their modular design. My favorite combination is a mirrorless strap pad, strap extenders, and uni loop connectors. I do wish Optech would sell all of their individual components separately to make it easier (and cheaper) to build a custom strap.
Not camera straps but I’ve been using the spider holster for over ten years. My back and shoulders are happier for it. It take a bit to get used to on the legs however.
I've long used BlackRapid slings and have been happy with them for the most part. But I'm considering giving the LemurStap (https://lemurstrap.com) a test drive. Has anyone tried one of these?
I am using PS Bagworks’ straps, both the 1” webbing and rope wrist straps. You can get them with Peak Design connectors, which is what I did. I liked the Peak functionality, but the metal buckles on their straps bugged me (plastic on the PS strap so no gear scratches). Built to order in Minneapolis, so will it will take a couple weeks to receive.
For any long day carry - a spider holster. For anything I use either a Peak Design (plenty strong for any normal camera. For an unusual weight I use a QD connector and a Magpul setup.
