Last summer a major wildfire burned across our local San Rafael Mountains. It burned out much of one of our favorite wildflower areas along Figueroa Mountain Road. We were concerned what this spring would bring, but we actually found quite a good display of wildflowers. This is one of our favorites images from this spring.

It's a very bittersweet image to us. The blackened oak trees reminded us of what had happened, but the new green growth from branches and roots and the blankets of wildflowers seemed to offset that.
