She has great character in that face! Her hands show that hearty soul of age. Beautiful smile! Beautiful clothes.
Where is she from?
Reminds me of the Montagnard and Hmong peoples of Vietnam on one of their ancestral holidays.
Fine composition!

Thank you so much, Dan! I couldn’t agree more—her presence is full of spirit and warmth. She’s from the Sapa region of Vietnam, and she carries a beautiful energy that shines through in every smile and gesture. I love that she reminded you of the Montagnard and Hmong peoples—there’s such rich culture and tradition in those communities. I appreciate your kind words and eye for the details!
Your composition instantly took me back to 1967-1969 while serving there. The tootless-ness of the woman made me crack a smile! Not being disrespectful to these wonderful people at all! Not to this region(Sa Pa) but to the West of Quang Tri on the Vietnam-Laos border south to Cambodia/Laos-Vietnam border.
Any more?
Thanks!
Dan
Thank you so much for sharing that, truly. Knowing the photo brought you back to that time means a lot. I can only imagine the memories and emotions of those years and that region. No disrespect taken at all—I smiled too when I saw her joy; it was so pure and contagious. I’ve just started slowly going through the photos from this trip—it was my first time in Vietnam, and I journeyed to honor my father, an 18-year-old flight medic, during the Vietnam War. Sa Pa was such a special place, and yes, there are more to come as I continue editing. I’ll be sharing them little by little.
