I recently shared some of my California winter wetlands photographs from this past winter/fall season. Here are some more of the same subject. They all come from my visits to the Central Valley to photograph migratory birds — where I'm easily distracted by the landscape itself.
Lovely work Dan. They are all beautiful and I enjoyed them all. Living in Sacramento I know it's not easy to come away with appealing photos from these areas so kudos to you.
Looks like you are slowly becoming a 'bird photographer' Dan
These are charming captures. The first reminds me of the Nature Drives we are allotted here in Ohio at Ottawa Nature Preserve on select days.
You have very nicely captured the morning or evening moods in all. Soft light, pastel colors and the peace and tranquility of these locations, wonderful set!

when I first started photographing in the Central Valley, it was hard for me to see much of anything other than the birds. But after all of these years of photographing it I have come around to seeing that there’s actually a lot out there, especially in the winter.
Thanks!

Thanks Karl. I think you’ve hit on it when you mention the softness of these landscapes — I think that is a big part of what attracts me to them. It isn’t usually about some big, grand, iconic subject. Instead it is about finding the right light and atmosphere.
