Exactly 10 years ago today – March 30, 2015 – my friend Kristinn Ingi and I found ourselves snowbound on the remote Strandir coast in the Westfjords of Iceland. A fierce storm had rendered the only road out impassable.
Salvation came by air: an Eagle Air flight was due from Reykjavík, bringing supplies for the isolated village. I hitched a ride back as the sole passenger – effectively a private charter.
I always find little things in your images that catch my eye and make them special
#1 warm colored rocks, cool water and pleasing contrast and depth
#2 that plane is dwarfed by those mountains, those pilots are brave and incredible! Daunting area
#3 a very unique place to land an aircraft, wow what an approach!
#4 close proximity to water, what skills and beautiful aircraft
Glad it all worked out for a rescue, would really miss you images

Karl: Thank you for your keen remarks.
You are right in observing that it takes special skills to pilot an aircraft in these fjords (skills that Alaska pilots are well-versed in).
Just wild and wonderful photography amigo!
The alien landscape looks very inviting to me. I envy you your chance at enjoying this beautiful area!
Well done!
