wondering how you get to 12 28mm lenses for the Sony? in Af I only know of 3 options ant that is the Sony 28mm f2, Sigma 28mmf1.4 and Vitrox 28mm f1.8

Well for AF there is also the Viltrox 28 f/4.5. For manual focus Sony E mount there are the 7 artisans 28 f/1.4, the Thypoch Simera 28 f/1.4, the Voigtlander 28 f/1.5, the Laowa 28 f/1.2 Argus, the Meike 28 f/2.8, SLR magic 28 f/2.8, the Opteka 28 f/2.8, the Mikaton Zhongyi 28 f/5.6, the Yashura 28 f/6.4, the Lensbay 28 f/2.5, and the Polar Pro 28 f/11 fixed focus lens at B & H. So there are actually 16 28mm Sony E mount lenses at B & H. There may be others.

Four of these (the Yashura, Opteka, Meike, and SLR magic) are APS-C, however, so it is 12 FF E-mount lenses at B & H,

p.3 #2 · Just give me a decent 28mm lens

The moment Sony releases an FE 28G that is as well-built and high-performing as my 20G it will be an easy instant preorder for me.

I hadn’t much experience shooting 28mm until lately, but since getting the Viltrox 28mm 1.8 FE I realize how suited the focal length is to my framing preferences (vs 24mm or 35mm). And to that I’ll say this: if someone with a Sony camera wants an AF 28mm lens I think they should just buy either the FE 28mm F2 or Viltrox 28mm 1.8 FE because they’re both capable of delivering excellent images and they’re just too inexpensive to let their shortcomings be a hindrance in the way of 28mm photography.

Things I don’t love about my Viltrox are mainly down to the cheap construction, lack of any weather seals; that sort of thing. Optically it’s rather good - I’m no lens reviewer! - and I like the rendering quite a bit. The lens was a mere $380. So, for now I have a good very inexpensive 28mm solution while I wait for something great from Sony.

I am 100% appreciative of and agree with the original post here…the Q3 produces phenomenal images that especially speak to my preferences. If I had the funds I’d just get one…it’s too great. And it would certainly be splendid to have an FE 28mm that renders as brilliantly as that!

So, I missed a couple of those (Mitakon 28mm F5.6 and Yasuhara Momo 28mm F6.4)

7Artisans 28mm F1.4 is M-mount so did not qualify.

Lensbaby Trio 28mm F3.5
AstriHori 28mm F13 (two versions)
Samyang Remaster 28mm F3.5 (AF)

I’m only interested in 28mm AF lenses that would rate in the top three or four for E mount platform, similar to a rating I would give the FE 35/1.4 GM, FE 35/1.8, Sigma 35/2 DG DN C, or the Sigma 35/1.4 DG DC Art. Personally would prefer an f/1.8 or f/2 just to keep the lens small and lighter for the A7CR or A7CII but would definitely buy a GM if Sony introduces one. Of course a mini G like the 24/2.8 G or 40/2.5 G would be as well.

I got a 28/3.5 Zuiko back in film days, used to be popular to adapt. Idk that it's as good,as a Leica on a $6k cameras, though

Yes, 28mm is good if that's the fl you need and or like. Idk that it's particularly advantageous vs other fl maybe but I don't really see it like that

I use my Zuiko 28 on my A7R for a nice small kit but I find f3.5 a bit slow for a prime shooting street / travel. It’s a great lens to take when out just walking.

I'm used to stopping down anyway, and the title says they just want a decent 28mm, so that should fill the bill

How does the 28/3.5 zuiko do on the A7R
