The full sensor width non-line skipped video read time of the Z8/9 sensor is about 15-16ms. A full sensor height and width readout might be possible at 50 fps.

I'm a little confused; is the 8k60p RAW recording mode not using a full readout?

I am 99.9% a stills shooter. Apologies if this is a super basic question I should have found a reference to elsewhere. I did look!

It is full sensor width but not height. 16:9 aspect ratio.

NR says mini Z6 III. So, Expeed7, 4K/30p RAW, same EVF and monitor from Z6 II, ENEL15C.. idk what they can throw at it to make it both price and features appealing while handicapping it to not affect Z6 III sales

All they have to do is make a ZF in a Z5 body. Bin parts through and through, and the new button layout, done. Charge a fair price and watch the money pour in.

That'd be nice. And if its got a little better specs than the Zf in terms of video, that would be a definite buy for me. Nice compliment to the Z8, and if they omit the partially stacked sensor, it would be a stellar low light, good DR and video camera.

Nikon has to be laughing at how much life they've gotten out of that excellent 24mp sensor.

All they need to do is 1) put IBIS it in to position it above the Z50ii and 2) possibly omit pixel shift as a way to position below the other higher end cameras. If they part bin the ZF, though, they really have no excuse for 2.

Likely identical to the Zf's.

All signs point to this being a rehoused Zf with a few minor changes

I swear half of my cameras have this screen and I for the life of me can't care.

I will always laugh at most basic Nikons now having a faster mechanical shutter than the bloody A1 series

Likely identical if shooting single card, if dual full size SD then backup mode buffer would likely be deeper thanks to the faster 2nd card slot vs the ZF's micro.

Is it also funny that the most basic Nikon's have a faster mechanical Shutter than the Flagship Z9?

Z9 was designed from the ground up not to have one though so that feels apples to oranges to me. A1 was intentionally designed to have a mech shutter and Sony has been putting the same garbage specced one in their cameras since the A7III came out. Bottlenecks and all.

As I suspected, 4K RAW. Specs are nice. Nice little addition to a Z8 until Nikon shorts out that flickering nonsense in the Z6 III

Flippy screen is a negative for me, but I'm not an absolutist about it. I can always pretend it doesn't move at all and just leave it flush.

Zero surprises so far on this camera, the path of the Z6III and Z50II pretty much told us where things were going.

If the specs are true, bird AF will come to Z6 III soon.

If its a 6K sensor, how can you shoot 4K RAW footage from it?

Over sampled 6K but thats not RAW. Does it have to skip lines? Maybe its skips every 3rd line?

For example with the Canon R5mk2, its an 8K sensor- To shoot RAW 4k, it has to line skip.

How does it achieve it on Nikon? Anyone know the answer?

This is what I am finding so far- be good to clarity-

"Nikon’s solution leverages the sensor’s readout flexibility and processing power to skip, bin, or average sensor pixels so that the output remains a 4K Bayer RAW frame."
