p.2 #1 · Kipon Announces 2X Teleconverter for Leica M-Mount
I agree that the Kipon 2x teleconverter could serve as a substitute for a lens longer than 75mm or 90mm in the bag. When shooting landscapes, I usually bring the Leica 90mm f/2 AA and 135mm f/4 Tele-Elmar-M (11861), but with this teleconverter, I could just carry the 90mm. However, I'd lose rangefinder focusing and very likely some image quality as well.
The price seems too high, in my opinion. I believe it’s made in China, and for less than $300, you could get a Leica 135mm f/4 Tele-Elmar instead.

I agree with your assessment here. I used to carry the Voigtlander 180 f/4 APO with a Leica M adapter at times with my Leica M10. There were a few times when traveling that was a useful lens, but it likely is in the neighborhood of 400g heavier than this 2X extender and if the performance of a Leica M 90 f/2 APO with this extender is in the ballpark of the Voigtlander 180 f/4 (I know a big if), then I could see the value of this extender. If the performance is pretty meh, however, I think there will be virtually no market for it at the price they are charging. We will also have to wait to see the long term price. It would not be that unusual for a product to be initially priced pretty high and then see a significant drop in price if sales are slow.
