I don't generally shoot landscapes at f/2.8 or f/4, but I'll tell you that by f/2.8-4, it's very sharp to the corners. For landscape work, of course, those aren't great apertures because you'll either have out of focus foreground or out of focus background on a lens this wide, in most situations.
However, I did just shove the camera outside my front door, and this is a 100% crop of the extreme lower left corner (camera tilted to put corners at a distance) at f/2.8. Not bad.

I bought this for untracked astrophotography wide open and have increasingly used it for landscape. I also own the z 14-24/2.8. The native lens is at its best at 16-18mm and is slightly better in the corners at wider common apertures at 16mm. Center frame is similar. By mid apertures sharpness across the frame is somewhat indistinguishable. I prefer the render (a bit more contrast) of the Nikon but the Viltrox is no slouch. If I didn’t already own the zoom, which is incredible and versatile, and if I shot 16mm landscapes more than other focal lengths, I’d consider getting the Viltrox instead for a lot less money. Wouldn’t miss much IQ - could still make nice big prints.
These were all tripod mounted so no, outside of motion from the trees blowing in the wind (it was a windy day). But would also be a very different shot since the river would be choppy instead of smooth. There is no wanting for sharpness here.
Who can upload test photos in Raw on the Viltrox 16mm f1.8. At an aperture of 1.8-2.8. Photographing a distant landscape. I suspect that the lens is faulty, the right frame at 1.8 is no sharper than the left.
