I've wasted a lot more than forty five dollars on cameras that didn't work out. At this point, you've pushed the poor little Camper way beyond what it was designed to do. Over all, it was a fun experiment.

Glad to see you still rockin' the CS cam, Huss! You are tenacious! (And glad you got the firmware upgrade to work.)
You should try making your own presets now that your firmware is up to date. I still haven't tried my "bleach bypass" filter, but next time I get the bug to take the CS out, I'll post some images.
For me, it's been a fun experiment, but I'm kind'a over it. haha. I mean, I have a Ricoh GR3x sitting in my photo cabinet. Way better camera in every way, similar pocketable size, and it also has a ton of "feel" that the CS will never possess. (But no viewfinder.)
That said, I'll def keep the CS around and charged up for occasional adventures!...Show more →
Agree with both of you. To be fair to the CS I pushed it as far as it could go to see what could be done with it.
Now I know.
And again, acknowledging that this is a $65 camera!
For its design brief it is great. Daylight or close up with flash. That is what it is for and is just fine there.
And if you take the cable with you, you can plug it into your phone and download/share the pics. You don’t have to wait till you get home etc.
I also bought the seafoam/turquoise one as I was going to gift it to Dr G, but instead I returned it to Urban Outfitters yesterday (unused apart from me setting the time/date). Dr G loves using my film cameras and this feels a bit like a penalty box in comparison, and frankly the results from a film p&s are way more pleasing. Either way we still have one to use if need be!
I’ll still use the CS but today we went on a hike in Will Rogers State Park and the cameras we took along were the Reto UW&Slim and the Holga 120. I should have brought along the CS for a nice trifecta of plastic cameras, but forgot…
My latest photo obsession (I have a very short attention span!!) is finding a really good LR "Holga" emulation preset. I found one nice set online and am currently tweaking to taste.
Looking forward to your Will Rogers images! The Reto Wide and Slim photos I've seen on the FM film thread and Reto web site are really interesting. They have a strong "3D" quality even with an f/11 lens. Some other magic going on there? If I get the film bug again, I'll be tempted to try it out! (On sale for $23.99 right now. Hmmm...)

The Reto like the Holga 120 gets that 3d pop from a lens that is high contrast and sharp in the center, but gets smeary to the outside. They work remarkably well!
Definitely pick up the Reto - the pics you will get from it will be unique in an awesome way, and all the other plastic reusable 35mm cameras in that category are junk in comparison.
So, in defense of the Camp Snap I was running out the door to get my weekend film developed.
Only camera w film in it is the Rolleiflex GX. Didn't feel like grabbing that as I was running errands, but I had to take something so... grabbed the tiny and super light weight Camp Snap:
One thing I noticed is that the camera’s battery takes a really long time to recharge. A couple of hours from 70% charged to full. Overnight from empty to full.
Could be the USB-C port you're using. I think some provide more power (watts) than others? Try using a wall charger (like for an iPhone). Pretty sure it will provide more juice and a faster charge.
When I take the CS out, I just turn it on and leave it on so I can avoid the 2-3 second wait for it to power up. (It will self power off after about 10 min.) But even after being on for an hour or so + snapping 20-30 pics, the battery only runs down to @ 90%.
I'm going skiing in a couple of weeks and will see how the CS likes 10º-20º f temps and snow! I bet the battery won't last very long...

I am using a gen-you-whine Apple wall charger. It’s not a complaint per se, just an observation.
Yeah it’s good to just leave the camera on. Ready to go quicker than a $9000 Leica M11!
And you’re going skiing with yours? Oof those snow scenes will look like someone is standing in a studio in front of a plain white backdrop…
