These images are from the San Marcos de Colon (southern Honduras) parade, which celebrated the week-long village fair this past July. I posted last year’s in color a few months ago. This time, I thought I’d try my hand at B&W conversions. These are very colorful scenes and portraits that offer a variety of tones, which I tried to capture in the conversions. Playing with B&W makes me miss film and my darkroom days, which ended in 1995 when I moved to Honduras. I did the conversions from the edited JPEG files, which probably isn’t the best way to do it, but I didn’t want to go back and start over, so I gave it a try. There are a lot of images – hope not too many!!

A nice set to vicariously transport us there. Conversions look good, and while we can't tell exactly "which" colors were there, we still get some good vibes from them, as converted.
Dan -- I don't sharpen in camera raw and then use unsharp mask in my processing. After reducing I do a light sharpen, again with unsharp mask (about 45%, .4 or .5 radius). Much of it is that I have an excellent copy of the 70-200 IS II, which does the 5DsR justice.
Honestly, these are about as good as B&W gets, in my opinion. They are very reminiscent of Kodak T-MAX 100 -- one of my all time favorite films.
Your B&W conversion processing is simply top shelf -- and yes, your 70-200 lens is clearly a keeper.
You compositions are also outstanding -- #'s 4, 5, 16, & 32 are standout compositions.
Looking at these, starting from scratch with RAW files would have been a waste of time.
Voted!

Thanks!
As I stated, the 5DSr and 70-200f2.8 II is my "go to" eqpt! I do NOT sharpen "in camera" either.
Your images are indeed "top shelf"!
