Im assuming this is the challenge....I made a complete wall unit/ theater for my living room. I am not a carpenter/ woodworker by trade, however its one of my many hobbies that keep me sane... I am nearly finished with a project I started about 2 years ago. I started with a completely bare wall. I have a bit of small detail work to finish up however I am pretty much done. It took me 2 years because I was in pursuit of a Professional road race motorcycle license which I got a few months ago. Obviously that didn't make my wife happy however, we are close to completion now 😎. I appreciate her being super patient! When I took on this project I kind of knew what I was after but things got changed and well.....You know how these projects go....I knew I wanted a fireplace that looked real (Amantii, it was the most realistic) and that was 3 window, an awesome sound system and lighted shelving. I also wanted to do the majority of the work with African Mahogany. I love how it warms up the house and it has a rich look. All in all I'm happy with how it came out however, I would change a few things. The maple I stained black, I don't like it varnished. Even though it's semi-gloss clear it came out a bit glossy. I probably should have used flat to richen up the overall look. I also wouldnt have gotten as elaborate on the lighting. It's cool but the plexiglass was a bitch to work with. It is by far the most used room in the house now. Just have a few finishing touches and on to the next projects!
Joel, that is an outstanding accomplishment BUT.... in the spirit of the contest, you must have done ALL of the work during the week of the assignment! Seriously, that is truly a magnificent piece of work in both design and execution!

Oh.....Well I guess im eliminated....! Thank you though!
That is a very impressive wall unit Joel! Well done. I think your carpentry skills could take you far. Is the ceiling also solid wood? It too looks beautiful.

Thank you Jon. The ceiling is wood flooring. The back story is how much my wife hated our previous house. It was super modern and was very cold. She wanted me to make this one a lot warmer so I started with the celling. It is called "Hawaiian King Koa". Then adding the wall unit with the African Mahogany and it is just inviting. Such a different feel than our previous house.

I thought the ceiling looked like Cocobolo - it's beautiful. With all my kids (all out of the house now) I never would have dared put something that good on the ceiling. Never thought I would have to mop a ceiling - did it twice. My kids threw darts at the ceiling just to kill time. I think I am going to enjoy seeing my grand kids enact the "parents curse" - "I hope you have a kid like you some day".
