Curious what suggestions others may have for something with wheels. The backpack gets a bit heavy and the ziipper open / close is a bit repetitive. At a church and a few venues I use a folding wagon about 18 in. wide x 38 in. long. I like that a lot when there's big space. An alternative to this wagon is what I'm looking for.
I have a "carry-on" size camera gear case with collapsible handle. The one I have has oddly shaped compartments due to the handle sleeve fit. Wish they had kept the bottoms flat inside.
What's available that rolls? A lot smaller than the wagon, closer to the size of the carry-on but with some sort of simple latch instead of zippers.
Hoping to hear of something you've put through the paces.

I also frequently use a folding wagon. Mine came from Academy Sports, but I don't know the dimensions. It was a very good decision for hauling my gear at events and through the local parks, but recently it has been getting used more often to haul the groceries from the car to the kitchen. It has proved valuable for both uses. I have a folding hand truck that's designed for luggage and small boxes that i thought would work well when I wasn't planning on hauling as much gear as the wagon can hold. Unfortunately, this hasn't worked all that well, so I'm again in search of something smaller than the wagon. The small hand truck wants to keep folding up on me, as the bottom plate does not lock open. As it begins to lift the baggage, the wheel assemblies fold too. I used it two times and won't use it again, unless I can make some kind of latch modification to keep it from folding until I'm ready.

i have been using the Eckla Beach Rolly on and off for over 10 years now.
- multi multifunction.
- quality manufacture
- carries heavy loads
- pneumatic tires (yes you do have to check their inflation like a real tire every now and then)
- folds flat (wheels easily removable) for most trunks
- stores easily.
- some available accessories are actually quite usable
- stable in most use (depending on the user)
(reality)- trucks and trolleys unfortunately need to be loaded and unloaded before, during and after use

Is there a folding wagon that does not have cheap plastic wheels? Everything I have seen at hardware stores, Costco, etc., are plastic. I like the look of that Eckla very much because of the real tires.

What kinds of environments will you use this in? I ask because there are a lot of hard cases with wheels in various sizes, but the main constraint for them is that they're best used in smoothly paved environments.

About the wagon, there's some that have good more solid wheels. Not huge like beach dolly wheels but like bigger versions of the better wheels found on some residential lawn mowers. LIke 6 or 7 inches tall and an inch and a half wide. Costco used to carry something like what I've got. I may have bought mine through Costco. It's not in my Amazon order history. But Amazon should have several with nice wheels given time to review and look at photos.
As for my needs with the case, I suspect it will be more across paved lots to reach buildings and inside buildings. If I'm at a park, that's pretty big and I'd probably just use the wagon.
Pretty nifty that someone posted about beach dollies. I didn't know about those and have done beach shoots before including a wedding. Sort of rare, but now I know what to get when the time comes for that also.

the beach rolly has wheel diameter of 9.5"x3". that makes them better on varied terrain and curbs. they also are quick release for easier removal for car trunk carry.
also great for crossing big lots of some hotels with a whole bunch of junk at once.

I have used the Rock N Roller carts which are excellent but for a single backpack I use a Samsonite folding cart that is lightweight, strong, and folds to a small size which makes it perfect for air travel.

One of the things that makes the Beach Rolly special is the wheel clearance. I’ve had several pelican type cases. They are great for protection and working out of. BUT very bad as soon as you go off a hard surface. Their wheels are not big enough to lift the edge of the case up high enough for clearance as soon as you hit dirt, rocks, grass. I’ve spent many hours cleaning around their wheels after location jobs.

Not a lot of replies, but what's been posted so far has actually helped me discover some new options for different situations that should come to pass in the year ahead.

If anyone is looking for something similar in size to a Beach Rolly, look at golf carts and baby strollers.
Just strap on your camera gear. You can pick up used golf carts at garage sales for ten bucks.
Someone should invent a photo cart that is like a 3-wheel golf cart with a built-in tripod. When you stop you can just lengthen each leg that lifts each wheel off the ground.

and look i did.
not the "course" i would take as i use mine for other varied uses and many they are*. the ones you referred to seem too functional specific/limited for different types of loads. You can try it and see how it works and report back on how to load them optimally. i am always willing to learn
it would be better to show an actual image of both of these loaded with photography specific gear. so, pics would be required of the alternate usage setups. you do understand saying and doing is somewhat of a reality difference.
Thule pricing- from $399us to roughly $1000us
Big Max FF as shown $300us. i love his statement of enjoyment pushing the cart along on the "manicured" course
Eckla Beach Rolly $229us
personally, i'll stick with simplicity and high usability
*Just yesterday i helped move some of my daughters belongings from her apartment on the 31fl in JC to my car 1/2 block away for storage at my home. in the pic is about 50lbs of stuff. that's just one load. it helped reduce the number of trips and possible discomfort substantially.
i care for versatility in function/usability. i really think the items mentioned above might be just a little limited in those categories.

Every year we go to the Point Pelee National park for the bird festival during the spring migration. For the last several years a couple of handy guys guys show up from Quebec show up with modified three shell golf carts. They have made a few mods by adding a small plastic bucket they sit their trpod legs in (mounted with something like a Canon R3 and a 600f4. Near the top a small cradle with a bungy. To secure the camera and lens. They can easily push them small rough trails on the big wheels. Guys are always bugging them to sell it. I’ll go through my files and see if I can find a photo. Sure looks appealing more and more lugging larger out and about

Have you looked at any of the RockNRoller carts?
That would likely be most similar to your wagon, but there are so many configurations and accessories that they are pretty adaptable.

interesting. possibly fits some of my usage options. . a wee bit heavy/bulky though. portability is limited too in some vehicular limited situations.
