Incredible. What lenses were you using?
Thanks! These were all with the 100-400. I had the Z7ii with the 24-120 as well. I think I would have preferred the 180-600, but the 100-400 was enough 75% of the time I'd say. This is where having a higher MP body would be useful for the times it wasn't. But generally speaking, I would say for Nikon shooters having the 180-600 for your typical animal portraits paired with the 24-120 for landscapes/wildscapes would be a perfect combo. I'd also consider the 100-400 paired with maybe the 600 PF.

Wonderful set of images. How much cropping did you have to do? I’m considering getting the 100-400 as with my vintage kit, I rarely go passed 400mm (I have a 500 that I haven’t used in years).

Not too much, I think of these the one that is cropped the most is the lioness on the prowl. And honestly some of the cropping that was necessary was a result of poor composition on my part (I was having a bit of a hard time holding the camera steady with a fractured ring finger). When I wanted the extra reach was mostly when there was a crowd of cars and we couldn't get in good position, so having a longer lens would have helped. I don't do much birding but I think if that is a priority then 600mm becomes more necessary. But for a place like Masai Mara 100-400 will usually get the job done.
Used the Zf for some studio work. I had a pocket wizard and the 24-120 mounted to it in my hands for a couple of ours and it did not feel like a burden at all. Although I was not shooting constantly and I was mostly holding it by the lens in between shots. I was expecting it to be far worse because it was definitely manageable.
