Now I'm tempted to try LR again.

if you do let me/us know.
I'm not wanting to 'I told you so!!' if you find Lr better than previously thought.
if it's DXO you prefer, good, i am interested in your 'recent' findings of what makes DXO better.

wonderful!

since you have chosen to speak for others and have forgotten to include the explanation of the 'why', I naturally have a few questions.

how, pray tell, have the most photographers that you know arrived at the conclusion that DXO is the best?
and, the best of what?
what are the other apps which the "most photographers I know" compared against DXO?

I have determined, from viewing the images that you post here, that you are not completely blind and you care about and strive to produce images with a good level of image quality. therefor, your own opinion/findings of whether or not DXO is the best (of something) could have potentially been viewed as valid if you had used DXO but you don't.

by the same token and means I am also able to determine that some folks enjoy having very expensive/capable photography equipment/apps at their disposal, some folks enjoy spending a lot of time at photography clubs/events/forums, and, some folks have little to no interest/skill/experience in using their equipment/apps to produce images with good levels of image quality. that is all fine by me..to each his/her own. buy a Lamborghini Huracan for the slow speed 10 minute drive to church on Sundays if that's what makes you happy...however, don't pretend to be insulted or offended when others don't highly appreciate your input on the power and handling of your Huracan.

so...where do these "most photographers I know" that you have chosen to speak for, fit in?

Because I'm still using the old CS6, I can't view the ORF files, so the "OM Workspace" works really well for culling. I then run keeper shots through DXO PureRAW4 and then open the DNG file(s) into PS Camera Raw.

p.2 #4 · Olympus OM Workspace

Stopped using PS & LR years ago. I recently took another look at Workspace. It seems Olympus did an excellent job with it and I had no problem using it.

However I already have ON1 (I use that the most since I have created hundreds of Pre-sets for it and the NR, Export & Upscaling are excellent (though I dislike the Healing, Retouch and Clone brushes and will sometimes switch to another program to use those, no program is perfect I guess)!
I'm not that interested in what the RAW looks like once imported as I'll apply one of my pre-sets immediately), I also have the latest Topaz suite (Denoise, Gigapixel and Sharpen) and the latest Affinity suite (Photo, Publisher, Designer - great pricing for the suite and the included iPad app is superb) they are all far better than Workspace IMO. That said for a free program it's still very good !

I recently also tried out DxO (ditched well before the end of the trial period - I forget why now but it wasn't anything better than what I have already, especially so it's much vaunted NR engines) and I've previously tried a C1 trial but it's methodology is quite a deviation from other programs, though I LOVED it's colour management tools, so I stayed with ON1 etc. and I still have an old version of Luminar (4), which isn't bad, if I ever want to use it. That's something I like - I can keep all of the versions of these programs, with the pre-sets I've built, and they'll keep working for years !

I see Apple have bought Pixelmator. Good program and I used to love Aperture so let's see what Apple can do with this one.
