p.2 #1 · Dual users of A1 & A7RV or A7Cxx: Which do you prefer & why?
After the most recent firmware and having the menu standardized again, they're both great machines. As the 7cII is newer to me, I'm still trying to optimize it to play off of what it is, versus trying to completely match the A1 in terms of layout. I wish the 7cii had ONE extra custom button though, I have a few Custom Holds set on the a1 that vastly improve on-the-fly functionality for me and that muscle memory has caused a couple fumbles with the 7cii.
I actually like the flipping screen of the a1 over the articulated one of the 7cii, I don't really shoot in portrait too much, but shoot low a lot and the extra maneuvering feels clunky.
Focus bracketing is a nice feature to have that I use for products and grab the 7cii for.
Finally lens choice will also play a part in which body I use. Certain lenses are just ungainly on the smaller body (135gm, 200-600). I've been playing around with the 70-200gm2 on the 7cii lately and while not ideal, I don't hate it as much as the 135 handling.
All of that said; if I feel I need the shot, I grab the a1. It does everything the 7cii can do and I have more confidence in it. If I want to have something to throw in a bag and head out quickly, the a7cii will probably get the pick especially as I become more familiar with it.
*An observation: the A1 is 830g with RRS baseplate while the 7cii with Smallrig plate is 580g. The a7c + Sony 40 2.5 is 755g.

I don't think you can talk yourself into a C body or learn to like it. For me it's my only body and I love it, but if I was coming from an A1 I would notice the differences, and maybe my feelings would differ. The C bodies are great travel and street cameras capable of all around, be it in somewhat less favorable experience to a bigger body.

Yes I agree but for me these days I’m more likely to have a compact C body with all the time in my car while my A1’s are at home in a camera bag or on a tripod looking out my back window with a FE 200-600mm on it looking at my bird feeders.

I shoot with both.
Different tools for different needs.
It’s like asking whether i prefer my hammer or my screwdriver.
If you can only have one, it depends on what you are shooting, but i would take the A1.

I prefer the A1. The main reason is 30FPS and stacked sensor EVF experience.
I did like some of the new features in the A7RV but nothing that would make me choose it over an A1.
I'm an action/BIF shooter for the most part so it is a pretty one sided choice.

And again, if you could only keep one, which would it be and why?
I’ve made my decision, and the A7CR has to go.
The A7RV is perfect for me in every way except perhaps the size. On the other hand, the A7CR is more challenging to like, especially with its flip-out LCD. However, it does look good and makes a great prop.
