I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Stock was limited and my dealer said that they were holding them at the warehouses until the next quarter started. I'm getting another one and they're supposed to get a second shipment next week.
Curious. What might be the purpose to hold back inventory til the next quarter?
Based on what I read on the net, some A1s are having connecting issues while some are not are, due to the different chip they used. I am suspecting Sony halted the production to make sure they put the correct chip in the new A1s.
This all depends on how Sony sees the a9III. This is an Olympic year, a great opportunity to introduce new cutting-edge cameras/lenses. If Sony sees the a9III as their innovation for the Olympics then we won't see an a1II for a while.
If they have a major upgrade in mind then getting it out there before the games could be too big of an opportunity to pass up.
No-one predicted the first a1, Sony can keep a lid on stuff when it wants to.
I wonder if the A1 still being out of stock has something to do with all the a1s that have been breaking from the firmware update. Perhaps Sony is quietly trying to figure that mess out before letting more A1s out into the wild.
