Finally, my turn to post some Great Gray Owls. I spent a week in western Canada last month and got to photograph several different owl species as well as some mammals in Banff (more posts to follow). But since this trip was planned around finding the GGO, I will start with these. Big thanks to Dan (DivineFocus) and Colin F for giving me advice when I was planning this trip.
Would also appreciate your thoughts on which of these flight shots you think is the best. I'm going to make a big print of one of them, and can't decide which I like the best yet! These were shot with the R6m2 and 500mm f/4 II.
Great looking set ! Congratulations on your success. As far as printing, you're lucky to have an excellent group to choose from. I don't think you can make a bad choice. I think # 2 would be my pick.

Thanks John! I keep going back and forth between #1 and 2. These shots were part of a flight series where the owl took off and flew towards me and landed facing me. All in almost no light. It lasted a little over 2 seconds and I got about 90 images, all in focus! Current camera tech is quite amazing!

I prefer the form of number 1, Tim! To me it demonstrates the power of flight that this bird has.

Tim, a nice series of in-flight shots. Number one through four are absolutely stunning. I like the perch shots also. Excellent detail on all shots.
Appreciate the nice comments Ted!
