That's possible, but it's also possible an important EF lens gets broke within 5 years.
Look, I'm using that same solution as you do, but you will get lured into a system where at some point you have to decide whether to change systems or pay those Canon RF L premium prices. I did some math and I found out for me a second camera from Sony gives me access to lenses so much more affordable I get the camera almost for free.
I understand this. I went the mirrorless camera for my EF lens route just to see what would be there within next 5 years you mention. I'm
definitely not very much amused with Canon's approach to the mirrorless lenses now - bright/big/heavy/expensive L lenses or dark/small/light/cheap zooms and bright/small/light/cheap primes. There's no middle ground yet, unless one calls f/4 L lenses a middle ground I'm also not very much happy with the amount of the FW corrections to the simpler optical design lenses, I feel a bit cheated compared to the film era lenses - but this is the trend in the mirrorless in general. So I am now almost 100% mirrorless EF shooter and I am waiting.
Canon RF has lenses now but mostly they are equal to the EF mount more or less "old" in terms of thinking. the only lens I like in the RF mount is the 28-70. nothing like Tamron or Sigma in terms of features, size,... I think the FE mount is the best choice now if you want options. nikon is slowly opening the gates. Nevertheless, I do have R3s and R5s. I have yet to decide what I like, photography, technology, or delicate and precise instruments; being undecided i have Sony Nikon Canon 35mm
