Well if weight the OP's 'main' concern, why would he want to carry more than one lens or camera?
Not my fault if you can't see any other reasons for changing f-stops.
It would be up to the OP to decide how acceptable sharpness is when using TC's with it.
The weight of the lens is of course important for the use, not only for carrying weight.
Of course I see other reasons for changing f-stops. But a lens/TC combo that already starts out at f/11 and needs to be stopped down for best sharpness, does not bring anyhting useful for bird photography apertue wise over a lens that is already sharp at f/11.
Of course it is up to the OP to decide about sharpness, but you dismissed my request for comparisons. A comparison would be most useful for making such decisions. Thank you for arguing about sharpness with TC using examples from the bare lens.

Glad you figured that out.

So what is your point when you say you see other reasons for changing f-stops? There are other reasons for stopping down a lens further than f11 that have nothing to do with bird photography or sharpness.

You are the only one arguing about sharpness, so do your own comparisons. My advice is for the OP, not you.

Get yourself a used Fuji 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 and a used X-H2. Or join the R7/100-400 crew for something even cheaper, albeit with more chromatic aberration. The AF is probably better on the R7.

Canon was selling the 600mm f11 refurbished for less than $500 during the holidays. That is similar in price to the 1.4x TC. I would suggest getting the 100-400 AND the 600mm.

Yes, that would be a good combo. Just because he does not mention 400mm or a zoom does not mean he does not want one or would not find one useful.
And he says he wants to ........... it is time for me to shoot with light weight handheld lenses .................
Thanks for any feedback
Note that he said "light weight handheld lenses, not a light weight handheld lens", and "Thanks for ANY feedback".
