p.2 #4 · Why BestBuy Will Be Filing For Bankruptcy
The very fact that you went into a best buy and put up with a 30 minute wait is an indication that BB is not filing for bankruptcy anytime soon. They have managed to the last man standing in B&M electronics retail. If you want something now or want to check out the goods there is simply no viable alternative.
It is buying from BB online that makes no sense to me. Why would you do that when you have a large number of retailers with much more refined experience. The only real reason is the B&M return privileges

During the 45 minutes I wasted at BestBuy, I had a clear view of the main cash registers. Nobody was buying anything. The store itself was not packed with customers. As I mentioned in my original post, I dis observe several sales employees chit chatting amongst themselves.
To stay afloat, retail businesses need to make sales. Employees wasting time talking to each other and not assisting customers is not good for business. It is an unsustainable practice.

Its reading stuff like this that makes me miss Fry's.
I remember going into the Manhattan Beach Fry's back in late '94 because they had a Power Mac 8100 with Photoshop 2.5 loaded on it that you could play with. I loved that store and it's creaky tiki decore.

My Best Buy in the Prescott area is at best a C+ store. Maybe a D store. The Scottsdale, AZ Best Buy is an A+ store. More choices, more products and up to date equipment. And far more knowledgeable people.

My experiences with BB have been "quite alright" in my book. Here in the lower Hudson Valley of NY I have no less than 7 BB's to choose from within a 25-mile radius and, of those, 5 are "on my side of the river" and I've shopped at all 5. At each of these stores I've never encountered the "see the greeter to get in the queue" except during the holidays while shopping for 2 new TVs.
Have I had to experience waits for sales help on occasion? Sure, who hasn't? Have I ever had to deal with a sales rep less knowledgeable than I for a specific item I was shopping for? Well, that's par for the course anywhere, no? Have I ever had an experience that was so bad or needlessly frustrating that I'd ever had cause to swear off BB? Noper. Have I ever had such an experience at an Apple Store?! You bet I did! (Returning a DOA iPad Pro for a new one only to be told to return to the store a week later and then being issued a refurb unit for a replacement?! Whut the hay?! Never again have I purchased directly from Apple! ) But, I digress.
Last major purchase at BB was 2 LG OLED TVs for the '22 holiday season, knowledgeable and extremely pleasant sales person, great deals on both. And I've been in shopping for dongles, UltraHD DVDs, air purifiers and other sundries since...their online "in stock" info has always been spot on and I'm generally in-and-out in a flash with no hiccups. The BB's here in lower NY are always busy and, no, they're not off somewhere on some "cheap land", they're always one of the key anchor stores for every shopping complex they're located in "around these parts".
