p.1 #1 · A delicate evening

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!
Here there is one last sunset on the Dolomites, shot taken at the end of december 2023. Wonderful light after the sunset!

Canon EOS 5Ds R + EF 16-35mm f/4L @35mm | f/9 | 4 sec | ISO 100 | tripod | polarizing filter

Great image Marco. Love the colors and lighting.
What did the polarizing filter add to this image? With most of the snow in the shade, was there much reflected light? When I add a polarizer, it tends to make the skies less uniform but your sky looks great. Just curious to know your process with this. Thanks.

A nice scene. I think it was overexposed.

Hi @gordon l thanks for your comment.
Regarding the polarizer, I used it in order to darken a little bit the sky and to give a natural saturation on the reds in the sky. I also overexposed by +1 stop (correct @Jeffrey, thanks!) and regulated the polazing effect by rotating the filter in order to minimize the darkness on the sky.

Thank you,
Marco

This is a pleasant scene and I like the softer light and colors. Have you considered cropping up from the bottom to make it a panorama?

Very cool. Val Gardena is on my list for a ski trip in a couple of years.
