Leica could bring back the Ala Carte Program. The customer gets exactly what they want and since they have been partially paid for in advance, Leica knows how many cameras to build. This isn't the 60's with runs of five or ten thousand cameras, Leica sells around five thousand film cameras in the best of years but mostly between two and three thousand. At those numbers, more care could be put into the product and give the customer a choice of viewfinder magnification, .58 M6 anyone?
A BP .58 M6 new would be great.
The new M6 visually is too identical to the old one that you can buy at 1/2 the price. I compared a like new original with mine, and until you pick them up they look exactly the same. When you hold them the new finish is warmer and richer/grippier. But nothing like the unique warm sticky feeling of the BP MP.
It’s only when you look at a well used old M6 that you can see a difference, as the edges start to chrome.

Interestingly the price has increased by $400 in less than one year.
It was launched in October 2022, so slightly over a year ago, but you are right, the price has increased with $400 (7.5% of the original asking price), perhaps I missed it but usually Leica price increases get properly announced...

Other than a 0.58 MP, my 0.58 M6TTL in the B&S is just as nice (and doesn't scratch film!)
Never understood the pricing structure for Leica cameras considering it's basically all the same thing for film cameras. We had a newer MP, M6, M4. Never liked the look of a battery cover on those, so ended up with the simple M2r that has the quick load of the modern ones and the bright lines that we needed. Slip them into an Art Dimano half case and they all look great. Light meters are handy, but understanding the zone system using middle gray and the simple attached Leica meter or a Voightlander VC meter work great. We use this method with color neg film and B/W.
