Continuous shooting with activated Perspective Control
SL2: for 2 fps and 6 fps, SL2-S: for 2 fps and 5 fps
Added lock function for white balance settings Auto ISO and Auto
This function ensures a constant ISO value and automatic white balance during video recording until recording is stopped, or settings are changed via menu settings.
EXTENDED FUNCTIONALITY:
New submenu item Flash Mode under Flash Settings
The menu item AF Quick Setting only was added to the menu Touch AF in EVF – In Touch AF mode, this will prevent accidental movement of the AF frame, but still allows the Touch AF functions to be used.
Newly added menu items for the Favorites menu
Thumbwheel: New functionality as function button
Joystick: More assignment options
IMPROVEMENT:
GPS accuracy of the shooting location was significantly improved
Revised Play menu: The option Delete All was replaced by Delete Unrated
The Continuous Shooting settings in the menu item Drive Mode were renamed
The menu item Self Timer is now a main menu item, and can be combined with other shooting modes
Bugfixes in the firmware

Looks like SL lens firmware updates come with v. 6.0.0 too. I just connected the SL 50/2 APO to the camera and saw an unexpected lens firmware update to v. 4.0. Checking the SL 35 and 90 APOs now.
Edit:
All of my SL APO primes: 35/50/90 updated to v. 4.0 as well 🥳

be carefull with the update, if you use the joystick to zoom in with manual lenses, it wont work anymore with the leica adapter, it continues to work with none leica adapters.

No idea if this change is intentional or mistake/bug. But seems a few on LUF have contacted Leica to complain.
For now, on ver 6.0.0. the zoom-in to focus while in MF mode with the Leica M-L adapter can be done by using the thumbwheel located about an inch to the right of the joystick. Appears to be the same when using Leica SL lenses to MF.
This is an easy change for me to accommodate. But given the immediate negative feedback about this change on the LUF forum, maybe Leica might be able to correct or change the MF zoom-in function back to the joystick soon.

I installed the update this afternoon and it took me a while to reset everything. This is not a very user friendly firmware-update as Leica changed some manual/function relative to earlier version. For MF usage, it's just so inconsistent. For example, when you use Leica SL lenses, it now zooms in when you turn the focus ring. With Leica M-L adapter, you must turn the thumbwheel (to the right) to have the zoomed view. And with non-Leica adapter, you have to push the joystick to zoom in - It's just all over the place.

exactly, the lack of consistency makes this update seemed rush, or perhaps they used unskilled software engineers. its not only a bug, its a lack of ux design.

LUF Admin posted Leica's response to changing the default joystick magnification for MF in v 6.0.0 :
"In order to enable consistent usage behavior of the joystick, we have moved the magnification function for manual focus and manually focused lenses from the joystick to an FN button. By default, this is the upper front FN button. However, the function can also be assigned to any other FN button. This gives us greater flexibility when using the magnification function.
We can now see from the first customer reactions that the magnification function was very frequently used with the joystick and that customers would like to have the function there again.
We are taking this reaction very seriously and are therefore considering putting the magnification function back on the joystick in one of the next firmware updates, but without compromising the improvement in AF-L and AE-L."

I hope that Leica takes this seriously to revert back some of these functionalities. This is a totally messed up update that makes users to have re-learn the manual system. Their software engineers are not SL system users, for sure.

If you use third-party lens adapters there is no need for an update to the v6.0 firmware. With my Metabones F to L mount adapter a push of the joystick still triggers magnification on my SL2. Interestingly, the thumbwheel (which I have set to trigger magnification) does not. With my Leica M to L mount adapter I have to use the thumbnwheel or FN button. So the workaround for adapted lens users is - don't buy the Leica adapter

Good news, but too late for me. I was going to go back to the SL2-S for manual focus lenses, but this just pushed me over to the S5 IIX, which arrived the other day. It also has joystick push-to-magnify in manual focus mode plus a lot of other features the SL2-S can't touch.

Damn, it’s my only M to SL and R to SL adapter for my SL2-S. I’m going to hold off on updating the firmware.

I have the S5 Mk1 and S5II, do you know if the official Leica M and R adapters for coded M and ROM R lenses work (lens ID and whatnot) work on the LUMIX bodies? I might just have to use M, R and other MF lenses on my S5II instead.

They work as any other m dummy adapter will do, no 6 bit code data is transferred.
Also take into consideration that pana cameras are not optimized for rangefinder lenses, they will work as good, or bad, as a sony camera, highly dependent on the lens you will be using. Expect corner smearing for must lenses below 50mm.

Thank you Malabito! I hear you on adapting the M lenses with other mirrorless bodies with respect to corner smearing and vignetting. I was hoping focal length info would automatically transfer with the official Leica adapters so that in camera image stabilization would be applied without manually adding a focal length.

Panasonic is not on my short list, but more and more happy user comments have been catching my attention. Please update on your S5 IIX experience/findings with M lenses. Should be interesting and as always, a fun project.

The good news is Leica is now aware how popular this feature is and hopefully we will see it added back shortly. For me using the thumbwheel instead was a quick and easy transition, but I would prefer to at least have the option to use the joystick for MF magnification too,
The way I read Leica's response posted earlier, they heard loud and clear..."they are on it"
However, this is the holiday season, so maybe not as quickly as we might like. Fingers-crossed 🤞🏼

Will do – in the process of deciding what M lenses to get after getting rid of all of mine. I keep making the mistake of buying large M lenses when I really need small ones.
Right now I'm mainly using the S5 IIX with adapted C/Y and Minolta SR lenses, and so far the results have been good. I did buy one Sigma 35 f/2 i-Series lens, so I'm a bit conflicted as to whether to buy a few more of those primes or get some more small M lenses first. These small metal Sigmas are just so good and have much of the M lens aesthetic going on already.

The Sigma 45/2.8 is a favorite of mine! I also have the Sigma 24/3.5 Contemporary lens as well. I picked it up about a month ago and haven’t had the chance to put it through the wringer, but it’s attached to my S5II ready to go. Love the small size of that lens. The metallic lens cap is nice, but useless if you use filters.
