Thank you! I walked to within about 15' of him for that capture, he was unaffected. He was looking around quite a bit so I used a high frame rate to try to capture that head on eye contact. Looking at the image, it's hard to imagine that I almost blew it off. I thought that he'd depart before I got the R5 configured, but he just hung out and watched me scramble.
One goes through some mental gymnastics before shelling out $12,999 for a lens that you don't use every day, but each time I use it the results confirm that it was the right decision. I have a very good client/friend that calls me in as kind of a "special teams" photographer when what he wants is in the next to impossible range, the RF600/4 has enabled me to pull out some gorgeous images when the photographers around me got zip, that's when it pays for itself.
