p.1 #1 · Which video camera on hot shoes

Hello, In the future I would like to take photos with my Sony A7c and film in the same situation.

I was thinking of a small action camera that I could attach to the top of the hot shoe. Which would be the best video camera here?

so far I was thinking of: Sony RX0 II GoPro Hero12

what do you all mean?

I have a RX0 II and had GoPros before.

As a real camera RX0 wins hands down. It is a real camera with modes and what not. I feel it is a bit more involved though.

GoPros are more "set it and forget it.

Check the battery life though. At least the RX0 I feel I am constantly running low and have to change batteries frequently.

You might also consider the DJI Osmo Action series. I haven't used one myself, but the feature set looks interesting.

How about a 360 camera? Great for BTS style videos as you can recompose your shot after.

The 360 is very flexible, also set it and forget it. IQ drops drastically on low light.

I don't want this to sound that I am negative on all options.

I would rank them like:

-You need a "small" camera: RX0
-No fuss setup: GoPro
-Flexibility in post: 360

It's just that they each have a very narrow and specific usage.

The new Osmo Pocket looks really good, one inch sensor and f2 lens as opposed to the f4 in the RX0.

Seems that it can be mounted as an action camera.

Osmo Pocket 2 Looks great, but very Big with the grip.
