Quetzal season is almost here in Costa Rica and I am very excited as it will bring new opportunities to try
to improve the images that I already have, wish me luck on that
All images have been taken in Monteverde and Cerro de la Muerte locations, within Costa Rica.
This special bird can be found from Mexico to western Panama, being Costa Rica is one of the best countries to see it and make some quality images of it.
All images were taken with Canon 5DIV and Sony a1 plus 600f/4.
Your comments and feedback is most welcome
Male Quetzal resting after feeding his babies one cold morning.
Male Quetzal ready to leave his nest. It's not easy to find a nest at eye level like in this case!
Meet the queen Quetzal, although not as ornate as her mate, she is a beauty in all its glory!
Probably one of my favorite quetzal images, taken last year with a Sony a1 and a Canon 600f/4, technology these days never stops to impress me!
Have you ever seen a quetzal in the rain? This is the original full frame shot as it was leaving his perch with a wild avocado in its mouth.
The name of the white moss in this picture is called ''old manīs beard'' or ''barba de viejo'' as we call it locally.
Papa quetzal leaving the nest. The BG has not been touched in PS.
She works very hard too!
Another image I could not believed the AF tracking system could achieve but it did!
I have never, and probably will never, meet a Quetzal in person, so thanks for sharing Juan, you have a couple of real colorful stunners in this set.

These are fabulous Juan! The first with the quetzal among all the air plants of equal beauty is an incredible photo and a super start to this amazing set. 3 with the bird in perfect focus and the background and foreground out of focus yet with all that color is magical. 5 with the falling rain, lovely curve of the tail and all the nice extras is another standout. All the others are excellent as well. For me the first is the best.
