A few xmas images from my fave (for today at least) 35's (until the LLL 35/1.4 shows up...eventually). First two - Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 ZM, second two - Leica 35mm f/1.4 Summilux ASPH 11874

Made a few purchases here before, but haven't been an active member, I hope to change that.
Just picked up a Nikon ZF and I'm interested in the slimmer profile lenses, M mount and the like. I have a Nippon S Mount 35mm 2.5 on the way.
I'm looking to grab a Elmar 9cm Collapsible (previously had the non-collapsible version, but it's a little long), perhaps the 5cm as well. I know they will adapt, but does anyone know if they are full collapsible without damaging the ZF or the sensor?
I've heard the recommendations of the gaffer tape or the o-rings and that might have to be the way to go, depending on how much it sticks out. Thanks!...Show more →
Did some testing on this and the 9cm Leica Collapsible and the Nippon S Mount lens both work well on the Nikon Z system without hitting the sensor.

Keep in mind that the digital filter stack of a Nikon Zf is over twice as thick than the one found Leica M digital cameras so fast M lenses shot wide open will show astigmatic smear at the corners when adapted to fit the Nikon Z. Converting the Nikon to a thinner filter stack through Kolari will resolve that issue but introduces some corner smearing when using native Nikon Z lenses because they are optically designed to compensate for the thicker filter stack. Also, because the filter stack is much thinner on Leica's, dust bunnies become more apparent because they are closer to the sensor photo sites.

Just got back from a two week trip to the South Island of New Zealand. I really wanted to shoot film on the trip, but due to NZ airport's 'no hand check of film' policy, and my lack of confidence in being able to get everything developed in Christchurch in time for my return flight, I decided to just bring the Nikon Zf, and three Leica lenses - Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 LTM, Light Lens Lab 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical '11873,' and Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH 11891. I currently use the TT Artisan 6-bit adapter and it works really well (especially when I remember to spin the lens selection wheel after I swap lenses). I can't speak highly enough of the Zf. If you want to shoot manual focus lenses, it is such an obvious choice.
At any rate, most of these are with the 50 Summilux and the last three are with the 15mm Voigtlander. I posted images from the LLL 35/1.4 in that thread.

I had buyers remorse after receiving the silver zf. Beautiful camera but holding it I immediately remembered I didn't mesh with the form factor (won't be a problem to you since you are used to it). I didn't try it with the neweer grip, but I wasn' a fan of small rig, my fingers felt scrunched holding it and never bothered me before but now I feel like the shutter button is in a weird place when using a grip. Waiting for usps to show today with z5ii and hoping that sensor is everything the zf's is (I know it's supposed to be on paper).

I sold my Zf and got the Z6 III instead. If I didn’t already have that, I would have gotten the Z5 II. Seems perfect for this use.
