Interestingly, I find sport mode best for hand-held with longer focals, but that’s me — and I’ve been shooting hand-held for a long time and have developed some steadying skills doing it. I also find that with the Z9, sport mode seems just fine when the big glass is on the gimbal, so I pretty much leave it in sport VR all time, except I do turn VR off when I’m shooting landscape stills off the tripod.
Shifting gears here. Any head to head comparisons of the 600/6.3 to 500/5.6 from users here? It seems to me even with the slight weight and size penalty with the FTZ added to the 500, it remains a viable alternative and relative bargain?
I’ve seen BSkite’s excellent results with the 500+1.4x as a 700/8 solution, but am actually more curious about head to head, same distance comps, then a slight crop on the 500 to match. My gut says any advantages to the 600 will be minor, even at 100% view.
