Congratulations to Rajan Parrikar for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 7 votes - View Previous Winners
While flying over Múlagljúfur canyon last week, we were surprised by this shock of Autumn colour in what is an unlikely setting for such a riotous display. The canyon emerges from underneath the outlet tongues of the Örćfajökull glacier (seen in the final image) in South Iceland.
PS: Can you spot the human figure(s) in the second image?
Rajan, some great pictures here. I had to squint real hard, but I think I found the three people on the bare rock on the other side of the falls and slightly to the right.

Yes, Sashi, they are near the white mound to the right of the intersection of the waterfall & ridge. One of them is wearing a red jacket. Thank you for the comments.

Beautiful!! I've never seen Iceland portrayed in its fall colors - thanks for sharing with us!
Al,
Muchas gracias.
Autumn in Iceland is very short, a "blink & you miss it" season. And given that we have very few trees, Fall colour here is of a different type than what one is normally accustomed to in, say, New England or Europe and elsewhere. Most of the colour is from the Icelandic native birch turning, some rowan and larch. Then there is the spectacular contribution from various berry shrubs on the mountain slopes.
