Thank you Rolando and Dave. I apologoze for the late acknowledgment of your comments. My kayak has proven to be my best camera accessory for wildlife photography (in Delaware wildlife = birds)
How do you transport your gear when in the kayak? Do you have a waterproof case in case of accidents, or are you just super careful on your trip out/back?

I've been kayaking for photography for about 10 years. No accidents yet.
The most important part is insurance for equipment that includes "lost at sea". My particular policy stipulates I sell no photography. I've heard of other riders that permit a small amount annually, a couple hundred bucks annually- sort of a pimple on the butt compared to expenses and bwhat I spend annually on equipment.
All kidding aside I do also have a dry bag but keeping the camera in the bag mens you keep it dry but do not get any shots. My drybag gets my equipment from the car to the kayak - virtually useless. A drybag would be of value if i were on a trip or kayaked rough water.
I feel I am careful to keep my camera point forward as much as possible to limit rolling over.
Bottom line - a couple hundred bucks a year for insurance, be careful, do not sell anything (for my insurance.)

Thank you for the info. That kind of insurance definitely seems like a small price to pay for some peace of mind in those situations.
