I took this portrait of a long time family friend who is a life long painter about 3yrs ago. She wanted me to take some pics of her paintings to sell online, I asked to take her portrait of her at work.
Flash forward to present day, she is now in very poor health and I went to see her at the rehab. In speaking to her daughter who is my age, we both are concerned she may never leave. It was very hard to see her because before her fall, this woman n her 70's could run circles around most 20 yrs olds. An absolute liver of life, outdoors were her life.
I haven't been serious into photography for that long < 6yrs and this is the one shot my mentor was truly impressed with. He is "school of hard knocks" so meant alot for him to say what he did to me.

Very well done! I like how the light falls onto both sides of her face. Let this post get your "photographic juices" flowing and get out there to post more Michael!
I believe she would like that!

It's an excellent shot that you should definitely be proud of, and I can see why your mentor would be impressed by it as well. You used the available lighting masterfully.
I'm sorry to hear about her current condition. I truly hope she recovers.
