I really enjoy vintage (mid to late nineteenth century) photo processing. I decided to try to partly emulate the ambrotype. There are people using this technique in the modern day, and their results are fascinating -- although it is never a substitute for good photography skills and imagination. I took this image of a town called Dhalpur in Northern India. India is great for trying out vintage techniques because it has a timeless quality.

Thank you! Excellent comment about the blown out highlights in the water. I went back and fixed it. Sometimes you lose dynamic range through the ringer of post-processing.

Thanks, Jim. I don't. But there are post-processing techniques that emulate the rich tone and details of a view camera. I appreciate the compliment though. I used to use a 4X5 and always wanted to get the same effect digitally.
