Terrific collection of images!
The pumas put on a great show and you did a great job capturing it.
Lots of great behavioral shots.
I believe you are on foot. What precautions are taken around the pumas?

Exotic subject, beautiful scenery, three excellent, experienced photographers , that had to be one memorable trip ! Your images are stunning ! Images like these are exactly why I enjoyed FM and motivated me to become better. I have enjoyed your work and both of traveling companions for sometime. Thanks for sharing your work ! Voted

thanks so much John....we had a great time and it is interesting that despite being in close proximity to one another that our images often are very different.

That cat is too close to focus Eric! A superb set with a great opening and so many wonderful behavior's. I'm not going to try and call out a favorite as every images is special in it's own way.
Morris
It is quite remarkable just how close one gets to these cats and there isn't a moment I was concerned nor was there ever any sign of aggression.

It was a memorable trip...in many ways more experiential than lending itself to great photography.

From the first until the last, those images are top notch and captivating, Eric! But if push comes to shove, I enjoyed the last 5 images more so.
Joshua
Many thanks Joshua....being on the ground with these cats is very special....I can't imagine being able to do this with similar ones in North America.....the experience is really mind blowing!

I will say I fully enjoyed each. #1 is just amazing to catch that rainbow, #2 is wickedly cool, #5 is 3D and incredible, #6 is also a beauty and looks 3D, #7 is artful and love it, #11 well I guess you know to bring a mirror next time, that is priceless, #12 is adorable.
Yup, got my vote!
Karl
Hey Karl, thanks so much for comments about individual images....being able to experience this with Don and Mitesh was really special and to see how our images differed considering we were often only a few yards apart says something about how we go about expressing ourselves.

The first shot with the rainbow better win you an award hah!
thanks, and yes, they are quite photogenic and when there are a bunch of cubs incredibly fun to watch their interaction.Put them in spectacular scenery and all you have to do is click.

Dave
thanks Dave....we were fortunate to have quite a few families with cubs....no tiny ones this time but lots of different opportunities to catch behavior. I'm not exactly sure how to frame this....there aren't specific precautions....we wouldn't get between the cats and a carcass or get so close that we appeared threatening but having said that as we followed them around it was not uncommon to have one pass by very very close and without any body language that would be construed as a threat.
I will stress again, that in no way, shape or form would I ever consider doing this with mountain lions here inb North America.....that is looking for trouble and could have a very bad outcome.
Excellent work as always, Eric. You must have been confident the puma was past teething stage to leave you're gear sitting in the open like that or did you just drop it and run.... lol.
That's my fav picture of the bunch.
Got my vote.

Thanks…it was quite amusing…our guide was going to shoo it away but I really wanted it to play out. Lots of highlights and that was certainly one.

I am green with envy over #2.
Incredible how we can come away from the same trip, shooting side by side and bring back so many varied images.
Different eyes I guess.

Now it’s your turn…I’ve seen a few of yours and know how one is supposed to do it…and you did it all with a Canon…didn’t think that was possible

Concerning #11, I think if I had a lens with a Puma's nose print on it I wouldn't clean it.
Funny Dave…I had exactly the same thought as it was happening. Was hoping fro some claw marks on the sun shield as a souvenir….unfortunately I only came away with some photo memories.
superb shooting, very creative composing, lovely processing, amazing subjects, awesome BGs. I can keep going, my friend. sorry, I am late to the party.
