Thanks Joshua…unfortunately this bear will spend the rest of his life at the rescue. I was told that he associates humans with food—and therefore poses a risk to people if he were released.

First of all, fantastic set of images. 1,5 and 7 are the standouts to me.
As to why he'll never be released...
Well to put it mildly, that always angers me to hear this. More than likely, some dumbasses thought they would be cool and feed this handsome bear some snacks. It's not the bears fault as they will ALWAYS take advantage of any food source. This is what bears do, it's how they survive. To me there are some "bad bears" and then there are "fed bears". It's a very fine line between them but I have always felt that a fed bear can be rehabilitated to learn not to go near people nor trust them.
I know I'm probably preaching to the choir here among my fellow wildlifers, but damn does this stuff piss me off. He's such a healthy handsome guy that belongs out in the wild to be free.
But I guess in his case he's one of the lucky bears. Around my area if a fed bear rips into someone's tent to get some dog food the idiots had in their tent, the bear is tracked down and killed.
I encourage everyone that witnesses anyone feeding a bear to ask them to stop and also snap of photo of the culprits, ideally during the act, and report them to the authorities.
Sorry for the side rant. Great set of images!
