I can't seem to find the 46mm version of this filter in stock, just the 43mm. I'll keep an eye out for it.
In the meantime, I've ordered one that's 2.4mm thick hoping it might work with the plastic cap. Will probably also order a cheap pinch-style lens cap that Red Dot Forum's video says will work inside the screw-on hood.
Yes, somehow it's out of stock everywhere. I bought mine from buyee but you can send an email to:

Thanks, but last night I found your original link to the 46mm on Buyee, and I ordered one! I had your link to the 43mm, and I tried to search for a 46mm, but it didn’t bring up any results. Maybe the Buyee site search doesn’t work unless the search terms are translated beforehand via Google then pasted in.

Took a few quick daylight shots.
Steel Rim has very prominent rainbow ring flare as everyone has been showing samples of. I assume that ring flare is coming off the stainless steel ring itself. My pre-ASPH v2 had a much narrower ring flare that was not as easily discernible as a rainbow.
Definitely less internal flaring on the SR reissue when shooting into the sun. I have to bump the contrast to see the secondary shapes from the lens elements with the SR (shown in the b&w comparison shots agains the color shots), whereas the v2 would throw echos of the elements all over the frame as a "stack" of shapes that expand/collapse as the angle of the camera changes relative to the sun.

Isn't it impressive how the lens excels at small apertures, providing sharpness throughout the image field like a modern lens? I found that the reissued Steel Rim lens outperforms the Voigtlander 35/1.4 Nokton in terms of corner sharpness and distortion.

Yes! Sharpness is exceptional stopped down. The low distortion is wonderful.
Definitely in love with the infrared-like radiance this lens renders at f/1.4. I wonder how it performs on various spectrum-modified sensors.

Has anyone tried this lens on a m9? I'm guessing the the 6 bit code either wouldn't work at all or be the wrong lens. Any other nuances?
I've used it on a M9-P and it works properly. However, as you noted, the 6-bit code does not work for this camera as the firmware does not support it.

Thank you for the update. I have one more question about your filter. With the reissue Ollux hood how does the filter screw on in front of the hood? I checked mine it doesn’t have a thread. Does it just sit snugly in place?

I bought this filter from Japan, and sometimes you can find it on Buyee or eBay. They offer sizes of 39mm, 43mm, and 46mm.
Here's a <a target="_blank" href=https://www.yodobashi.com/product/100000001006211599>link</a> to see how it looks and its name.
It's super thin at ~1mm thickness and can also be used in front of the clip-on hood (12487), although I have not checked if it causes hard vignetting with this hood.

Apologies for the confusion. The clip-on reissue Ollux (12487) is not compatible with any filters, including the super thin 1mm filter. However, the filter is thin enough to be attached to the hood from the front without causing vignetting. Since there are no threads available, one can use adhesive tape to secure the filter onto the hood. Although not an ideal solution, it works for those who wish to use the hood along with a filter.

Thank you Fred for the reply.
My dilemma with this lens is how to use a filter and a hood at the same time without the vignetting.
Currently I am using a TvO Hood with a Leica filter on the front of the hood which has a filter thread. Feels like TvO's design was meant for this lens that had such an oversight (or several) in its design. I am curious however about what Leica will do with its re-designed hood. Will it be like the v2 clip on hood with the VII filter sandwiched inside? Perhaps they will do the exact same design as TvO's hood?

Ended up returning my SR reissue after all, mainly for the stiff focusing (though I was still annoyed by the focus shift). I bought it from Leica USA's online site, and they're a "we'll see if it really has the problem(s) you say it does when we get it back," kind of a store. So we'll see. I half expect them to send me a video clip of a gorilla moving the focusing tab around effortlessly then returning it to me with a note that says, "It's just fine!"
I think I will replace it initially with the CV 35 1.4 II SC and down the road with another copy of the pre-ASPH v2 + CLA.

Leica is redesigning the ventilated hood to eliminate vignetting when using filters. Meanwhile, you can consider purchasing a metal hood from eBay (link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/264632460681) for $7. When needed, I personally use it with regular ND filter and have not experienced any vignetting issues.
