I feel your anguish! I've tried on numerous occasions to raise indoor plants, but to no avail. In fact, the Botanical Society of America has banned me from raising any kind of indoor plant without direct supervision! I do take solace in the fact that outdoors, I'm highly successful! My lawn is rich and abundant with healthy weeds!

Great image and storytelling!

Shutterbug40,
As a matter of fact I am. I also am a fan of sunflowers, because of their fractal geometry. I had
been doing a photo study of these, and working on a tribute to Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers"
which had a sunny yellow background, round vase, and were obviously alive. Who knew cut
sunflowers drank so much? So, I changed it into an antithesis tribute, and a "Nobody's fault
but mine" - since it was my fault they wilted. I did play both songs (Don McClean's "Vincent" &
Led Zep's) while shooting this.

Here is the other image "Vincent, perhaps they never will"

That's a great story and a really cool juxtaposition of two great songs. In April I was in Paris and went to the Louvre and while there I kept an eye out for any of the Sunflower Van Gogh's, but alas did not find any. I believe they are spread among several different galleries. If I ever decide to brave the crime element in NYC again, I'm going to go to the Met and see "The Starry Night"

Great photo BTW!

Yes....but you quoted murder rates, and there's more to crime than murder. The crime rate in NYC is trending up.....but I'm not going to hijack this thread any longer. If you have anything more to say about it to me, please take it to PM.

My apologies James

If you look at the second part you will see it is states and OVERALL crime rate. NY state isn't even in the top 10.

So if you braved the crime in New Mexico, Louisiana or Tennessee you should be just fine in NY. A great state and New York City is amazing.

Good job James.

This Georgia boy agrees. It's all about situational awareness. Like many urban cities, I love visiting, but prefer my quiet rural life as home base.

You need to visit the Musee d'Orsay for Van Goghs (https://www.parisinsidersguide.com/van-gogh-paintings-at-the-musee-dorsay.html). Better yet, visit the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. The museum shows his work in chronological order, which really helps with understanding his progression.

I noticed the Musee d'Orsay on the last evening we were in Paris (took the train to London the next day).....wished I had seen it a day earlier and would have stopped by for sure. Oh well, it gives me yet another reason to go back and visit Paris!
