Actually that's perfect as these lens are built in the same era with your camera.
But if anyone wants you to clean out the stuff - you know where to sell them :P

I agree Steven,
Based on the current Canon 7D used prices, I might as well keep it and use it with these Canon lenses. I may sell some of the non "L" lenses as well.
I've tested this further and AF speed and performance with the Sigma MC-11 adapter varies depending on the camera used.
With the Sony A7R3, the 100-400L IS @400mm hunts when the focusing point is away from center but with the APS-C A6400 it focuses well anywhere in the frame.

While supportive my wife does not give a rats butt about my hobby. I had a 5D3 and one day I went out with a new 5D4. "Is that a new camera"? The same shape, colour, etc, I can't figure out how they do that.

It was probably that huge "kid on Christmas morning" grin you had on your face as you walked out the door with the 5D4.

I was cleaning my closet this past weekend and found a hidden and heavy backpack. I knew I had it but completely forgot about it.
There were 7 Canon lenses and 2 cameras. All in mint condition, not used for a long time.
Cameras:
Canon EOS 7D
Canon EOS Rebel
Lenses:
Canon EF 17-35/2.8L
Canon EF 24-70/2.8L
Canon EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS
Canon EF 70-300/4-4.5 IS
Canon EF 50/1.8
Canon EFS 24/2.8
Canon EFS 18-55/3.5-5.6 IS
All original versions.
Should I sell it or adapt it to my current system? Or should I just use it on the Canon EOS 7D/Rebel bodies? Do these lenses even work well with AF adapters? If so, which one? I don't own any modern Canon but have a Sony A7R3.
If you are considering to get back in Canon land to test the waters sell the following:
EOS 7D Canon EOS Rebel
Canon EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L IS
Canon EF 70-300/4-4.5 IS
Canon EF 50/1.8
Canon EFS 24/2.8
Canon EFS 18-55/3.5-5.6 IS
Canon EF 70-300/4-4.5 IS
Canon EF 50/1.8
Canon EFS 24/2.8
Canon EFS 18-55/3.5-5.6 IS
7D is only good in good light, and target is within reach, just not enough Mpix to crop in, In other conditions files can get pretty noisy
Use the funds from the sale to get into:
A Used R7 & 100 - 400-II
Keep your:
Canon EF 17-35/2.8L
Canon EF 24-70/2.8L
Maybe keep the 50 1.8

I would say you can safely sell and move most of the Canon bodies, and keep some lens (range) that you like for Sony APS-C.
Extra funds will help you upgrade new Sony mirrorless / gadgets / lens next year or this year and also flexible should you want dual system.
I have tried that before Nikon - transit to Canon as subject and interests changed - one system is better IMO - but keep ONE DSLR just for the heck of it!
I've found 18mp to be about the same as 24mp at high ISO. 6400 usually isn't too hard, 12800 I try to avoid. But still usable. I've used 60D + T6, and according to the thread I started asking about it the various 18mp cameras are about the same
Anyone know when these rebates end Not sure if B&H would shop to Canada?

Thanks. I only saw the post yesterday. My understanding was that B&H doesn’t ship major Canon equipment to Canada and only ship minor accessories . But when I look at the EL-1 and spare battery on the B&H app, it doesn’t show the end date for thr $200 off and I am able to get to chose Canada as the shipping destination and get a shipping rate. I dojtnwant to risk them canceling the EL-1 and only shipping the battery. Imagemaster wrote:
First of all, you should quote the member (rscheffler) that mentioned the rebates, which was a month ago.
Secondly, the B&H website clearly indicates on the product's page if they don't ship to Canada:

That is totally incorrect. It depends on the item and whether they have Licensing Agreements that don't allow them to ship their product to certain countries outside the U.S.

I started another thread about the USA rebates primarily for the benefit of US members. But Canon Canada currently has rebates on many of the same items. It appears those expire Nov. 3.
The problem with shipping restrictions to Canada is brand specific. Canon USA imposed that restriction on US dealers sometime in 2020. Early in March 2020 I bought Canon toner from B&H because it was quite a bit cheaper, but then discovered that option was no longer possible for Canon products. Another brand that interests me - Voigtlander - did the same. And there are more, as you likely know. A workaround is to use a forwarding service or ship to a border address if you live close enough, but you may end up paying state sales tax, depending on the destination state. That and the additional cost for a forwarding service likely make it much less worthwhile. In my case I sometimes bought from the US for cost savings, but also due to immediate availability, particularly for less common items that might be special orders in Canada.
I’ve been told that Canon dealers in Canada have been very happy with the shipping restrictions, of course!
Thanks for the reply. The B&H site is pretty confusing. Some items are married not deliverable to my address once I sign in. I’ve usually never had issues getting Canon accessories.
This time, I go to the cart with the Canon EL-1, and a spare battery, and it wasn’t until the final payment step that I got a message that the items aren’t deliverable to my location🙄
It’s ridiculous when you look at some of the price difference between Canada and USA - it’s far greater than the exchange, and the rebates in the USA are way better.
In the past, CPS pricing in Canada made up for the differences, but that’s no longer available either.

I 110% agree. Sometimes there are major price discrepancies; such is the reason I bought the toner from the US instead of Canada. As for equipment, CPS pricing made a huge difference and I do miss it. I'm seriously tempted to use a forwarding service for purchases from Japan. Not necessarily for Canon gear; most of what I've price shopped has not been significantly cheaper there. But definitely for some other brands.

Same here. I dropped CPS a few years ago, as I don't cycle through gear as fast as I used to (since I stopped shooting sports and events). OTOH, if CPS Canada still had the price reductions for 1-series cameras and L-series lenses, I'd still be a member.
