p.2 #2 · Lake Clark National Park, Crescent Lake, Redoubt Mountain Lodge, Alaska
So when I traveled to Alaska, I usually fly into Anchorage, rent a car and explore. This particular trip was over 3 weeks, drove from Anchorage to Fairbanks, to Tok to Valdez, and back to Anchorage. It was September and absolutely amazing.
Pretty easy to capture images of Bald Eagles, Moose, etc on your own...favorite spot for Eagles is Homer, Anchors Point...
For the bears, definitely need to hire a air service.
My recommendation is Anchorage Aero in Anchorage Anchorage Aero and Bald Mountain Air Bald Mountain Air Service out of Homer. Fantastic people. Back up would be Rusts Flying Air Service out of Anchorage, they are fantastic as well, but super popular with tourists.
If you are going to out and explore like this, I do recommend you travel with a firearm (I traveled with a 10mm semi-auto pistol) or grab some bear spray as soon as you get into Anchorage. I never had to use it, but given some of the areas and how austere it is, it just makes sense. I also tracked my travel with a Garmin and let family know where I was. Cell service is spotty at best.
My next trip will be into Juneau and trek over to Haines...
