Surprised this doesn't get more comments. The complementarity of the colours and the fluffiness of the clouds make a strong image.
Is that a raincloud? .
Actually, this is a great pic and reminds me of what a unique and magical place Yellowstone is. Hope they will be OK with all the flooding they've endured.

I'm somewhat surprised how captivating is this pic. Exposure, comp, foreground and color are really strong!
Thank you Dave! I shot this while we were driving back to Gardiner from a day of fishing the Lamar. I saw the clouds and the light contrast and yelled "Stop the car"! Just had a few seconds to avoid causing a "cloud jam"! Steve

Thanks Gordon and I get the wry humor of your raincloud comment. You folks in the SW are experiencing the exact opposite of what Yellowstone just got. I feel for everyone living with climate extremes these days. On a completely selfish note, my little group of anglers is already mourning the loss of our annual fishing trip to YNP which was planned for August but is now cancelled. We fish Lamar/Soda/Slough and stay in Cooke City now. Not going to happen this year. YNP is one of my favorite places on earth and I love to photograph and fish there. Below is a screen shot from helicopter footage shot a couple of days ago of where we fish in the Lamar Valley. It will recover, but it won't happen quickly. Meantime, the fish and wildlife in the northern part of the park have complete run of the place! Thanks again! Steve
Very powerful image! I really enjoy it!
My only nit is the amount of noise reduction. Looks just slightly waxy on my full size monitor. Still a very nice shot!

I love summertime thunderheads! This is a beautiful image with the pure white contrast against the colorful blues and tans! Well seen!
