Attended another Workshop two weeks ago

Held by Sacha Ruede

Thanks to his day job with the railway company, he has access to the train museum and can do workshops there.

Chiara is a wonderful model with an amazing expression

This was the third set of the day, second set with Chiara. Shooting inside a train wagon. Sacha said "you likely won't get any useful images from this set, but I love to challenge my participants from time to time".

The outfit Chiara wore was basically just a black body under a cream coloured coat
The idea of this set was actually to shoot pictures of her sitting on a bench and discuss how the light coming in from the opposite side window affects shadows and all that.

I tried shooting from below the bench, from the perspective of the seat, from the luggage rail, etc. But nothing really worked.
On my first shot, I left the door open and thought to myself: Wait. What if she just comes walking through the train instead?

So, at the very end, when everyone already left the train again, I asked her to quickly do a walk coming from the next wagon into this one.
And I finally had a shot worth keeping

I shot the entire day with my jpg preview set to monochrome and loved the results, so I edited all the pictures in black and white, of course. Never even saw any colours, because I even applied a preset on my uploads.

However, one of the other participants uploaded a single color image (from a different set) to Instagram and I felt like I should at least try color too.

After 2 hours of shooting in groups with Sacha present, everyone got 15 minutes each with both models to do a 1-on-1 session.

This image was from that session. I was so enamoured with that "impossible to shoot train" that I decided to spend my 15 minutes in there trying to get an even better shot. Took me forever to decide on an outfit, but it turned out to be one of my favorite shots of the entire day.

I wanted a "business, but casual, but also sexy" look... really hard to put in words, but the result was exactly what I had pictured.

Ended up loving the colour version almost more.

A very beautiful young woman! Very shapely and stunning grace!
My only nit would be her side facing in all.

I like the last shot a lot. The first few shots showed too much environment/too little of the model for my taste. Good work.

To finish the 1-on-1 session off, we took it to the locomotive of that train.
Shooting against broad daylight with only some light coming in through the windows was kinda tough.
The D850 with Nikkor 58mm f/1.4G did deliver amazing results, though.

Chiara also had a little accident there on that ladder.
I asked her if she could swing back with one foot on the step and one arm on the handle, to "open up" to the camera.
Do not try this with high-heels on, ladies

She slipped and slammed against the train. I felt terrible!

But she wasn't mad at all and assured me many many times that it didn't hurt.

On our first set with Chiara, we shot next to that same train, with a series of very large and very dirty windows from the side.
I was lying on my back to get a low perspective, shooting the D850 with 105/1.4 in continuous burst mode. But the buffer vs memory card battle was a tough one.

Here, Sacha said to absolutely have the model face the window, because of the shadows it would create on her face.

I tried anyways

In color, I applied a much flatter curve to make it work:

But in that scene I really prefered the dreamy look more:

These are really nice as well as your other set. You were really luck with two very professional models that have very relaxed natural looks for the camera.

I'm a very shy person with strangers and have a hard time approaching models. That's why I decided to instead attend workshops.

Interestingly enough, it took at most 2 minutes to feel comfortable with everyone..

I'll upload these to a portfolio on some model database, hoping for people to approach me for shoots

I would be very shy in the presence of such dual beauty! Probably speechless! But that being said, I may also feel so comfortable among them also. So my shyness may disappear!!
I welcome any further viewing of these, and other, beautiful classy women.

It wasn't an issue at all when they arrived. I was incredibly nervous before the workshop, but mostly because of the other photographers.

I'm not sure I could contact a model and ask her to shoot with me, though. If one contacts me, that's an entirely different thing.

They are all nice. A preference for the last series in wedding dress. I very much understand your attitude vis a vis models. That's why I'm mainly a landscape photographer.

Many times the photographer has to work on getting the model to a relaxed place. GREAT models, not only know how to get themselves there, but also have the ability to make others (photographer, et al) relaxed, as well.

It's a team on both sides of the lens. When you've got great teammates, well ... you've shown what can happen.
