Jim, these are awesome! I love Mountain Loop highway but it can be frustrating shooting from the road because you only get glimpses of the mountains through the trees. You did it right with the drone giving you excellent views!
Thanks for all the comments guys. The afternoon light was a bit difficult at times, but seemed to work perfectly to capture the avalanche runnels on Big Four. BITD I climbed that face a couple times in the winter and never get tired of looking at it and being thankful that I'm still alive inspite of my climbing crazy old self.
Jeffery, yes the main camera is for sure an upgrade over the 2 - no more bursts and median blending in post to handle noise. The tele lens is also lots of fun and gives pretty good results for screen use if you shoot at it's native length. I lost my M2P in the Pacific last month when it did an emergency landing that I couldn't stop. I looked around for a used one but they were going for around $1500 while the 3 just went on sale for $2000 so I went for it along with an extra battery. The longer fly time is also a great bonus. It does take a bit longer to lock onto enough satellites for return to home, but firmware updates must have improved it from the first complaints.
Wonderful images, Jim! I like the B&W processing of these images. The second and third images are spectacular. And the east face of Three Fingers is pretty impressive too!
Thanks for all the comments guys. I rode my bike back up there a couple days later. The rain and warmer temps. washed much of the snow off Big Four and those marvelous runnels were gone. Glad I went when I did to get these.
Jim - These are all really remarkable images and I enjoy looking at them. I especially like the Big Four North Face Detail image. The patterns and textures in it are captivating. Your black and white processing on all of them is just perfect to my eyes. Thanks for posting these. You got my vote. Steve
