I just bought this lens a few weeks ago and have been enjoying getting closer to everything. I'm very impressed with the image quality, as long as I do everything right! It's hard to believe how light it is for what it is. I hand-hold this lens when shooting, so far no help from a tripod or monopod needed, but I can see the benefit when having to watch a subject long enough before it acts.

I lightened it up because it was a bit dark because of the sun so maybe that's the reason for the color? Really not sure. Anyway thanks and the park is Huntington Beach State Park and its one of the reasons I moved here!

Could be a green kingfisher, although that's pretty far outside their range. Stranger things have happened with the shift in weather patterns. I see them occasionally in central TX.

You have an excellent eye in an awesome backyard! Fox squirrels nuthatch, and warblers, very nice shots. I am rather partial to long leaf pine/wiregrass ecosystems. Seems like you are in one.

With all the talk about how inferior Nikon AF and tracking is, this series of peregrine falcon shows how horrible Nikon is at tracking. I don't remember if I was shooting 10 or 8 FPS at the time but the falcon flew from one tree to another, passing through several trees front and back in between and I got about 30 shots, all with accurate AF. One shot was a bit soft but I cant tell if it was focus or just because of so many leaves in front or what. This is so horrible, I am sure Sony or Canon will give me 35 pictures in focus out of 30 shots because Nikon can do 29/30 (or 30/30?, 3rd shot I showed is a bit questionable) and Sony and Canon are better obviously.

Sorry I did not match WB of every shot to the same value so color in each one was a bit off comparatively.

Not saying that Nikon is better than other but at least Nikon is more than enough for my ability for what I shoot and
if other are better, it is not going make any difference for me anyhow.

Love the hand holdable 800mm. IMO, a must have for bird photography. AF with Z8 is way better than DSLR time.

First one had a electric line going across the birds. I tried to remove it but can see some imperfections
